Márcia Porto is a Visual Arts teacher with more than 40 years’ experience in facilitating the learning of the arts through the creative process, research and Art History. Her focus as a teacher is to help students develop personal visual thinking using artistic techniques as a way to access new content and poetic paths. As a mentor, she facilitates the artist in deepening their research project, practice and references. As well as developing educational work in her studio, Fare Arte, since 1991, Porto has contributed to university level in courses such as Visual Arts, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Architecture, History, Advertising and Journalism. She is currently a member of the Backlit Gallery, Nottingham, England, where she lives and maintains her studio, Fare Arte. Porto also teaches at the Nottingham Women Centre, the National Justice Museum and on remote courses.
